Clinical and Research Psychologist
Dr. Chandra Khalifian is a clinical research psychologist at the University of California, San Diego/Veteran Affairs consortium. Her research has focused on the dynamics between relationship functioning and mental health, and she has expertise in developing, adapting, and evaluating couple-based treatments for PTSD, suicide, and partner violence. She is currently funded as PI by a 5-year VA Career Development Award to develop and conduct a Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) of the first couple-based intervention for suicide, Treatment for Relationships & Safety Together (TR&ST). She has worked with several clinical and research teams to augment couple treatments with psychopharmacotherapy, and is currently leading the development of a couple-based transdiagnostic ketamine integration protocol and couple-based PTSD MDMA integration protocol in VA. She has also completed several psychedelic and psychopharmacotherapy training programs including the MAPS MDMA-assisted therapy program.
