Inti Garcia-Flores
Mazatec historian
Inti was born on April 2, 1978, in Huautla de Jiménez, Oaxaca, to Mazatec parents. He has lived his entire life in the Mazatec mountains, which has given him profound knowledge of the traditions and culture of the region. As a History teacher, Inti's inquisitive and curious nature has led him to dedicate his life to documenting Mazatec wisdom and culture. He also bears the great responsibility of being the guardian of the Historias y Memorias Mazatecas Archive, a historical collection containing a wealth of information on various aspects of Mazatec culture such as gastronomy, clothing, language, weddings, baptisms, curanderismo, and more. Currently, Inti faces the challenge of cataloging and digitizing the contents of the HMM archive, with the aim of making it accessible to those interested in learning about its contents. Inti has also collaborated on various articles and presentations that discuss psychedelics and his own Mazatec culture.
