Dr Mat Hoskins is a psychiatrist and clinical lecturer in psychiatry who has lived and worked in Cardiff for most of his life. He has a special research interest in post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and psychedelic substances and has recently published a review of drug treatments for PTSD sponsored by the World Health Organisation. He is currently working with a team in Cardiff University to plan the first brain imaging study of the effects of MDMA in patients suffering from chronic, treatment resistant PTSD. This will help us to understand how MDMA could potentially help patients and may lead to MDMA being used therapeutically in the future.
