Dr. Maier is an independent Swiss scientist who has been traveling to Central and South America in 2022 and 2023 to connect with local shamans and healers who practice plant medicine for community healing. She is keen to integrate the traditional use of entheogens, psychedelic science, and mindfulness into Global Public Health to ensure accountability of providers and access to harm reduction resources. Dr. Maier is a member of the Global Drug Survey (GDS) Core Research Team and the International Society for the Study of Drug Policy (ISSDP). She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Zurich (UZH), worked at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Vienna, and completed her postdoc at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
