Psychedelic History: From 20th Century Outlaws to 21st Century Mainstream
Join Zach Leary and Jessica Depatie as they explore the inspiring and turbulent history of psychedelic from the mid 20th Century to now. Psychedelics burst on to the therapeutic scene in the 1950’s and showed great promise for use as a therapeutic tool and then the counter culture exploded and took psychedelics with them. With that came a cultural revolution not seen in America perhaps ever. Our entire world was up for grabs. For a variety of reasons worth exploring, fear and propaganda shut legitimate psychedelic research down and criminalized their use. Fast forward 50 years and we see a resurgence in psychedelic research and the onset of an entirely new healing paradigm known as psychedelic assisted therapy. Looking forward - who controls the modern psychedelic movement? Is it based in cognitive liberty with respect to indigenous use or will late stage capitalism prove to be too much for psychedelics to handle?
